Abdallah Sima transfer update at Ibrox as Rangers talks begin already

Stevie Clifford has acknowledged that he is “confident” Oscar Cortes will still be at Rangers next season and feels they have a “good shot” of landing Abdallah Sima once again. The 20-year-old winger moved to Ibrox on loan from Lens during the January transfer window. However, he only made seven appearances and scored one before his campaign was cut prematurely by injury.

According to reports, the Light Blues are chasing deals to bring Cortes and Sima back to Glasgow this summer, and Clifford believes the Gers have a chance of signing both players. Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel on May 29, he stated: “I’m 100 percent convinced that Cortes will stay. “I think we have a decent chance of acquiring Abdallah Sima; we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I know they’re talking to Brighton, so we’ll see what happens there.

“We might not be able to afford him, or he might fancy another year.” Will Rangers sign Oscar Cortes and Abdallah Sima during the summer transfer window? Rangers won’t have much money to spend this summer unless players leave Ibrox, but the Light Blues will be anxious to reinforce as they strive to cut the gap on Celtic at the top of the league.

Philippe Clement has already admitted that he wants to complete a mass overhaul of the playing squad as he looks to change the attitude within his side, however, he will likely be keen to keep both Cortes and Sima.

Both players have admitted that they are incredibly happy in Glasgow in the past so getting them to agree on personal terms shouldn’t be an issue, however matching Brighton and Lens’ valuations could be a sticking point.

Another loan deal could be the best option, allowing the Gers to trial before they buy. If they win the title next season, they will be rewarded with Champions League money and will be able to spend it more freely. This could be one to keep an eye on in the early stages of the transaction, as negotiations between the two players have already begun.
