Wolves and Aston Villa “must act now” as West Ham “closes in” on the 15-goal scorer

Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers seek West Ham United are allegedly close to finalizing their signing.

Attacker Jota Silva of Vitoria Guimaraes, who scored 15 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions during the 2023–24 season, is reportedly getting closer to joining the Hammers.

The 24-year-old, who has played for Portugal at the senior level twice, is attracting interest from teams throughout Europe after having his best-ever top-flight season.

Villa and Wolves have also been connected in recent months, while another Portuguese team Benfica is also interested.

According to Portuguese journalist Sebastiao Sousa Pinto, West Ham has surpassed the other teams in the race after triggering Jota’s €20 million (£17 million) release clause.

Villa and Wolves, among others, will need to move quickly to have any hope of snatching a hijack.

Jota reportedly has preparations to leave VSC this summer, having joining the team two years ago for a meager €190,000 (£161,500) from second-tier team Casa Pia.

The versatile left winger, who can also play as an out-and-out center-forward or on the right side, is looking for a long-term deal.

Unai Emery is clearly interested in transferring. The fact that Unai Emery is eager to have another forward option in his lineup at Villa Park is becoming increasingly clear as the weeks pass.

It seems that the Spaniard is looking for a player who is not only able to take on defenders but also adept at finding the corners of the net.

Silva would be a good fit, but Emery would probably consider many options before making a decision.

Therefore, even in the absence of the prospect of playing in the Champions League, West Ham has a decent chance of landing their man. Wolves? They need to begin moving, but the money isn’t there yet to do so.
