After a Rangers dispute in their loss to Celtic, Ally McCoist lashes out at “scandalous” referees live on air.

Rangers fan and pundit Ally McCoist has been left in a rage over the “scandalous” officiating in the Gers’ Scottish Cup loss to Celtic.

Abdallah Sima had a second-half shot disallowed after Nico Raskin was found to have fouled Joe Hart, but Philippe Clement’s team was left feeling badly short in their 1-0 defeat at Hampden on Saturday, May 25.

McCoist couldn’t believe that the Gers didn’t receive a spot kick for a similar foul earlier in the phase of play, even if he was willing to concede that the Belgian midfielder might have fouled the Hoops’ stopper.

Remarkable, he stated on talkSPORT on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:05 p.m. Totally scandalous, but I kind of expected that. It is just absurd how incompetent our authorities are.

The fact is, I feel almost ashamed to tell you. They deny the goal for a shove; you can accept that there may have been a slight shove, but if they go back two seconds, they must award a penalty.

Embracing the man who gives the tiny shove are the boy’s arms. We’ve grown accustomed to this level of incompetence, even though it’s the only way things work.

Was a penalty called for Rangers against Celtic at Hampden Park during their Old Firm loss? Whether Raskin did enough to foul Hart will be a point of contention among supporters, but throughout the most of the game at Hampden, they will all agree that the referee thoroughly confused the situation.

The match felt quite stop-start as play was stopped every few minutes for a foul that ended the entertainment. The officials were dishing out cards like there was no tomorrow from the first minute onward.

The quality of officiating north of the border has been appallingly low throughout the whole season, with mistakes and inconsistencies showing up week after week in both the Premiership and the Cups.

The Premiership will never be considered a true top league as long as these kinds of mistakes are being made on a regular basis, thus something has to change.

Although calling it a conspiracy would be overkill, there are simply too many serious errors being made by the current officials.
