With transfer rumors escalating, a former Celtics favorite bids adieu to the “amazing and special club.”

The defender will return to Arsenal and could be on the move again this summer after a season in La Liga.

Most of Europe has now finished its football season, and the only remaining games are the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Scotland’s 2023–24 campaign came to an end this past weekend after Ross County defeated Raith Rovers handily in the play-offs to secure their spot in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic also won the Scottish Cup. Now, all eyes will be on what promises to be an exciting transfer window across the nation.

Former Celtics star and current Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney is one player whose future is unclear.

The 26-year-old is preparing for Scotland’s participation in the European Championships this summer. After spending the previous season on loan at Real Sociedad in La Liga, he will return to North London.

“Thank you to everyone at @realsociedad,” Tierney said on social media over the weekend as she said goodbye to the Spanish club. What a wonderful and unique group. I’m honored to have contributed to it.

“I gave it my all every time I stepped onto the park, despite the difficulties with my injuries, and you stood with me the entire time.

Being a member of the team that created history by qualifying for Europe five times in a row was amazing. Asko Eskerrik. We’ll get together once again.”

Football Scotland reports state that Tierney is anticipated to depart Arsenal this summer.

Although it is extremely unclear where he will end up, before he made the loan move to Spain, Newcastle United was apparently quite interested in the former Celtic player.
