Wolves struck gold with a £50k-per-week player who is more valuable than Neves and Nunes.

Wolverhampton Wanderers has seen significant financial gains from the sales of important players in the last several seasons.

The majority of this funding has come from Premier League teams, while several have also been purchased by teams outside of England.

Wolves nearly spent £50 million on players like Nathan Collins and Morgan Gibbs-White, who left the team in the summers of 2023 and 2022, respectively.

Collins paid £23 million to join Brentford, while Gibbs-White signed a contract with Nottingham Forest that initially cost £25 million and may go up to £42.5 million.

In 2020, Diogo Jota paid £41 million to join Liverpool, causing Ki-Jana Hoever to leave and move to Molineux in exchange.

That was a club record for Wolves at the time, but it was surpassed twice in the previous summer.

First, Jota’s move to Liverpool set a record for sales, then Ruben Neves’ departure from Wolves to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia smashed it. For £47 million, former captain Neves departed Molineux for Saudi Arabia.

Just a few weeks later, though, Neves’ record was broken when fellow Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes left Wolves to sign a £53 million contract with Premier League winners Manchester City.

That was the second time in less than two months and the third time in the previous four years that Wolves’ record sale was surpassed.

However, with one of Wolves’ top players this season potentially on the verge of a move, there may be another sale this summer that breaks that record yet again.

2024 stats for Pedro Neto This player is Pedro Neto, a winger for Portugal who is also an international. After an incredible season in 2023–24, the 24-year-old may be set up for a significant change in roles in the coming months.

In just 20 appearances this season in the Premier League, Neto recorded nine assists and two goals. Furthermore, he recorded two assists in four FA Cup games and one goal on the scoresheet.

This is all the more remarkable considering that he only spent 1,519 minutes—or 16 full 90-minute games—in the Premier League. Neto’s campaign has been hampered by more injuries, which is why he has played so little. Seven fewer games were missed by the Portugal international than in 2022–2023 with a total of 20 missed across all competitions.

His talent has been evident this season despite these injury concerns. In fact, Jota, Neto’s current teammate from Portugal and a former Wolves player, complimented him on social media after his flawless performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, calling him a “beast.”

The 2024 transfer value of Neto It does raise the question of precisely how much Wolves will demand for the 24-year-old, since the attacker who earns £50k per week is expected to make a huge move in the 2024 summer transfer window due to his good performances.

The Midlands team will demand a club record amount to trade Neto, according to a story in The Telegraph. Before revealing that Manchester City and Newcastle are the two teams interested in signing the Portuguese right now, Percy states that “Wolves are ready to demand a club record £60 million” for him

Wolves will once more need to let go of players in order to reinvest funds into the team, manager Gary O’Neill hinted in a recent interview. Speaking about how Wolves “won’t be blessed with resources as in money to spend,” O’Neil concluded by saying he hopes those on loan “come back and help us or we will be able to sell some.” If this is the case, there will be an exciting summer at Molineux because some major stars, like Neto, might be leaving.

It’s unclear how the Old Gold will use that money because they aren’t currently associated with many players. Having said that, they intend to build on an outstanding debut season under O’Neil’s direction by using it as a springboard.
