A Ukraine international player who has been called “pitbull-like” and “a specialist from dead-ball situations” is apparently attracting interest from Wolves. The 2023–24 season is already over for Wolves, and what a campaign it was.
The first three months of the season were a transitional period for Gary O’Neil’s team. Things really began to click in the middle, and objectives began to flow. However, Wanderers suffered in the last few months as the small team was decimated by injuries.
A larger team is something O’Neil will want by 2024–2025, and transfer talks have already started. It appears that the team is now interested in Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov, as Pedro Neto may be leaving.
West Ham United and Aston Villa are rivals for Wolves’ interest in Viktor Tsygankov.
Wolves is one of the few teams expressing interest in Girona winger Viktor Tsygankov, who has had a very good season in 2023–24, according to Spanish magazines AS and Grada 3.
Girona made it into the Champions League, and as was to be expected, a number of their players are already being connected to departures.
Among them is Tsygankov, a 26-year-old who has contributed six assists and six goals in 29 La Liga games. Due to a couple injuries, the former Dynamo Kyiv star’s season was somewhat disrupted.
However, he made an impression, and he’s now in demand. According to AS, Bayern Munich has already shown interest, and Wolves, West Ham, and Aston Villa are all eager.
The reason West Ham is interested is that, as Wolves supporters are aware, on Thursday morning, Julen Lopetegui was named the team’s new manager.
Therefore, it’s possible that the former Molineux manager may ruin Wolves’ intentions.
Wolves may find it hard to convince Tsygankov
Following reports of interest in Jonathan Rowe, Jhon Arias, and Justin Njinmah, there is now another wide forward connected to Wolves.
Tsygankov, who only joined Girona in January 2023, has amassed mediocre stats in 52 appearances, with nine goals and twelve assists.
However, in 236 games, 84 goals, and 64 assists during his time at Dynamo Kyiv, his former team, he was simply outstanding. This player can definitely create opportunities in the last portion of the game.
These are nevertheless excellent numbers, even though the Ukrainian Premier League does not operate to the same level as La Liga.
The 51-cap Ukraine international Tsygankov, who was born in Israel, is described as “an abrasive, all-action, vocal, pitbull-like character” in an article published in Scouted Football a few years ago. Additionally, he is “a specialist from dead-ball situations.”
He’s characterized as “quick, but not exclusively in the sense that his speed is his only asset.”
Tsygankov might be a cross between Pablo Sarabia and Neto in light of this decision. Wolves may find it challenging to complete this transaction in the end because the player cannot play in Europe.
If he stays put, Tsygankov will play Champions League football the next season, so if he were to go, you would think he would want to sign with a team that could provide that.
