A Liverpool legend wants to “sit down” with a teenage Celtic prospect who is worth £500,000.

A lot needs to be taken into account by Celtic as the summer transfer window draws near. The largest chance for clubs worldwide to add intriguing new players to their rosters is during the summer transfer window.

Every year, teams have two options: they can spend big money on spectacular acquisitions or search for bargains by navigating the pool of free agents and players nearing the end of their contracts.

This transfer season is anticipated to be extremely competitive, with Celtic, the defending Scottish Premiership winners, actively seeking new hires as Euro 2024 draws near. However, the Hoops have concerns beyond simply purchasing players. Brendan Rodgers will have a lot of interested outside parties knocking on his door after another title-winning season, asking questions about his key players.

As his current contract is set to expire at the end of this year, rising sensation Daniel Kelly is apparently scheduled to “sit down” with Celtic this week to discuss additional negotiations over a new one.

Still, the 18-year-old has made waves outside of Glasgow, and Bayer Leverkusen, the most recent Bundesliga champions, have expressed interest in him.

Kelly is considered a “serious talent” for his age group by manager Xabi Alonso, who is eager to pursue his interest further, according to Football Scotland.

This season, the Black and Reds broke Bayern Munich’s 11-year winning streak in the Bundesliga by being led by the legendary player from Liverpool.

In addition to winning their first league title, Leverkusen had an incredible 17-point lead over VfB Stuttgart in second place at the end of the season. They also had an undefeated campaign.

Alonso promptly stated that he will be staying in Germany for the 2024–2025 season, despite earlier rumors that he might return to Liverpool to succeed the now-retired Jurgen Klopp.

After the summer break, Leverkusen will have a Champions League campaign to look forward to in addition to defending their title.

The former midfielder and Spanish international Kelly is firmly on the radar of the Celtic Academy Player of the Year, who will be looking to further improve his title-winning team.

Leverkusen is reportedly pressuring Celtic to reveal their asking price for the teenage sensation, but the Bhoys are keen to lock Kelly down to a new contract at Parkhead.

In the Scottish Premiership this season, the midfield player has got senior run-outs for Celtic. He even scored his first goal in the division in their 7-1 thumping of Dundee.

Kelly’s contract will be extended, giving him more time to establish himself at the senior level and giving Celtic more leverage should they decide to sell him down the road.

The current estimation for his compensation package is in the region of £500,000, but as he continues to perform well for Celtic, this is anticipated to increase dramatically. In the 2023–24 season, Kelly made six appearances under Rodgers in all competitions.

If he signs a new contract with Celtic, supporters may anticipate seeing more of him as the Hoops attempt to win the league title for the fourth time in a row.
