Jack Butland learns his fate for England at Euro 2024 while Gareth Southgate selects the Rangers goalkeeper.

Following the announcement of Gareth Southgate’s provisional team today, Jack Butland will not be traveling to Euro 2024 with England.

The goalkeeper for Rangers, who arrived at Ibrox on a free transfer from Crystal Palace, had long been expected to return to the national team.

Although it was expected that he would be called up for the most recent Three Lions camp, it didn’t work out.

Given that it isn’t the most potent part of Southgate’s team, Butland held onto hope of visiting Germany in the summer.

He hasn’t even been included in the preliminary training squad, which will eventually be reduced to a final 26 for the tournament, so he didn’t even know his fate.

The training group now consists of 33 players, four of which are goalkeepers. Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace, Jordan Pickford of Everton, Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal, and James Trafford of Burnley are those players.

Butland was nominated for Player of the Year, but Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland won the title after he was included in the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year. But on his club’s awards night, he did win players’ player and POTY.

Nottingham Forest reportedly expressed interest in the youngster during the January transfer window, but both the team and the player rejected it. It’s anticipated that the Premier League will show more admiration this summer.
