Celtic is interested in signing a goalkeeper who is said to be on par with Manuel Neuer.

Transfer rumors appear to be the talk of the town today, while Celtic prepares for a major Scottish Cup final matchup against Rangers.

After the Scottish Cup final, Hart will retire, leaving a huge void in the Celtic lineup, but it appears like Rodgers may already be considering a potential successor.

Celtic is considering Koen Casteels. The Daily Mail’s Stephen McGowan report suggests that despite Rodgers’s 31-year-old holding negotiations regarding a free transfer to Anderlecht, Celtic has “emerged as an option” for the Belgian international.

After nine years at Wolfsburg, Casteels will become a free agent this summer. It appears that Celtic is considering Casteels to take the role of the well-liked outgoing Hoops goalkeeper.

Casteels, who has eight caps to his name, was reportedly compared by his previous boss, Mark van Bommel, to the great goalkeeper Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich. Van Bommel stated [UEFA.com, cited by Bulinews] following a 0-0 Champions League match with Lille back in 2021, “Koen has improved every year.”

There’s a new level for him. He is the finest goalie in the Bundesliga with Manuel Neuer. Along with winning a Belgian Cup in 2009 and the German Super Cup with Wolfsburg in 2016, Casteels was a 2011 Belgian champion with KRC Genk.
