Celtic hero challenges Philippe Clement to summon a Rangers surprise in order to defeat the three wise men.

The Ibrox side head to Hampden on a downer as they limped over the finish line in the Premiership.

When Rangers and Celtic square off again in the Scottish Cup Final, Neil Lennon thinks Philippe Clement needs to unravel the mysteries surrounding Rangers’ defeat at the hands of Celtic.

After finishing eight points behind their most formidable opponents in the Premiership, the Ibrox team limps to the finish line and heads to Hampden on a low note. Now that his team has lost their last four games against their toughest opponents this season, Clement is expected to come up with unconventional ideas to inspire his team.

Furthermore, Lennon acknowledged that he couldn’t agree with Graeme Souness’ contention that there isn’t much separating the competitors. “I would agree (that Celtic are a step above Rangers),” he stated in an interview with talkSPORT. Considering that Celtic has qualified for the Champions League, I believe the gap will widen.

I watched the games, and each time Celtic led and was generally quite comfortable in the match.

Rangers is the team with questions to address regarding their recruiting practices and style of play. Although they kept Celtic close for a while, you always felt that Celtic’s superior quality would eventually show.

The two teams’ disparity over the past few months has been their respective forms.”

Lennon feels that Rangers cannot compete with Celtic’s midfield trio of Matt O’Riley, Callum McGregor, and Reo Hatate; nevertheless, he has advised the 50-year-old to concentrate on containing the crucial group in order to pull off the upset.

“I have watched Rangers a lot this season, and I don’t want to jump on the critical bandwagon because he (Clement) had a big job on his hands,” he continued.

To be fair, Clement will have the summer to accredit himself to the team. With the set of players he inherited, he has performed remarkably well.

Whether it is due to a shift in mindset or a lack of true quality, they have kind of vanished over the past few months. Rangers lacked the matchwinners that Celtic possessed.

“That’s huge for him; they don’t want to lose to Celtic again at the end of the season.” Since the odds are stacked against him, he will need to figure out how to thwart Celtic’s fast starts.

Celtic’s midfield has performed admirably. I doubt Rangers have a player of that caliber. Clement has to come up with a strategy to limit that.”
