Agent speaks out as Jose Cordoba inches in on brand-new Rangers transfer.
Andrian Kraev of Levski Sofia has referred to Jose Cordoba as “the best defender in Bulgaria” as Rangers look to sign him this summer, according to John Inglis of The Scottish Sun. Kraev’s agent, Inglis, has indicated that his client is sure that Cordoba would prosper if he moves to Ibrox this summer, with the 22-year-old claiming to be “extremely keen” on the transfer.
According to the Daily Record [20 May], the centre-back has reached personal terms with the Scottish club ahead of a £2 million move during the summer transfer window. “I spoke with Andrian about Cordoba.” And he’s stated that he’s not only the best defense in Bulgaria, a top professional and player, but also a nice guy. “They are big compliments from Andrian – and he is confident Cordoba would do well for Rangers or any other club if he is to leave Levski.”
Rangers set to sign Jose Cordoba as first summer signing
Philippe Clement and the Gers are preparing for a squad rebuild this summer, and Cordoba’s signing will be the beginning ahead of a busy transfer window.
At just 22 years of age, Cordoba has already made 88 appearances for Levski Sofia and is an established international defender with Panama, having made his national debut in 2022.
Given the Rangers’ current defense dilemma, the Bulgarian appears to be an ideal initial addition. Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun, and John Souttar are all sidelined with injury.
In addition to this, Goldson has been linked with an Ibrox exit this summer, as has teammate Ben Davies, while full-backs James Tavernier and Borna Barisic could also leave their careers in Scotland.
If Cordoba is available for just £2 million this summer, it appears to be a no-brainer transfer, especially if numerous players leave Scotland to make way for the next generation of defenders.
