After clinching the Premiership trophy with the Hoops, Daniel Kelly, a Celtics youngster, was given a better contract.

The 18-year-old from East Kilbride is heading into the final months of his contract and the Hoops are keen to keep him

Daniel Kelly, a Celtic player, won the Scottish Premiership title on Saturday after assisting the Hoops in winning four straight games. In an attempt to keep the East Kilbride teenager in Glasgow’s East End, the Hoops have now extended an upgraded four-year contract offer to him.

Kelly’s contract is set to expire at the beginning of the new year, but manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign one of the team’s most promising young players.

Kelly will be allowed to speak with prospective employers starting in July, when he completes the latter half of his deal.

The 18-year-old, who scored his first senior goal on his debut in a 7-1 victory over Dundee at Celtic Park in February, has had an incredible breakthrough season with the first team.

He has now made three more Premiership appearances against Hearts, Livingston, and St Johnstone in addition to playing in March’s 4-2 Scottish Cup victory over Livi.

Celtic defeated Rangers by eight points to win the title this season, and Daniel’s family was present as the trophy was handed out following Saturday’s 3-2 victory over St. Mirren.

If Celtic defeats Rangers in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final at Hampden, Daniel might make it a double.
