With 4.5 years having passed since his return, David Moyes has bid farewell to West Ham, making way for Julen Lopetegui.

The club is anticipated to formally confirm the hiring in the next few days. The former manager of Real Madrid, Spain, and Wolves is takes on the role of Head Coach to usher in a new era in east London.

However, Moyes has expressed his delight in the years in command and has nothing but good wishes for the club moving ahead.

Moyes wrapped up his final game as manager yesterday in the 3-1 loss to Manchester City, which saw them emerge as champions and deny Arsenal.

Moyes said on the team’s official website, “We’ve tried really hard to give the supporters something a bit more than what we’ve had in recent seasons.” “It’s important to keep in mind that we were placing sixth and seventh the previous two seasons, and we came in ninth this year—positions that I believe are rather decent.

“It’s true that we had a 14th that was somewhat painful, but we overcame it, and overall, during my time here, we’ve placed West Ham in a strong position.

“I believe that most people in the Club would agree that we have done a great job—not only myself, the players, and the staff—we’ve really been at it, really worked hard, and committed to trying to make things go better.

The Club is hiring more people than it has ever employed and is drawing larger crowds than it has ever drawn, so when you add all those things together, it definitely sounds like progress. Overall, we’ve been in a really good situation, with lots of games and excursions.

“I really hope that this continues because I think there are a lot of things the Club can improve upon and go forward with.

The guys need to keep it up, I’ve told them in the locker room. Let’s see whether we can keep up the standards they’ve set in the Premier League.

Although Moyes recently acknowledged that he thought it was time for him to leave the team, he did feel that, in addition to the difficult times, there have been many positive moments that supporters should be grateful for.

“I’m really happy that my time at West Ham was successful, and I think most people would probably agree with that,” Moyes continued.

“All of the people I’ve enjoyed working with and who have been successful have done so, and I hope that everyone else can too. “To be fair, we’re seeing a lot more of the light now than we are of the darkness, but we have had some dark days here.”
