Rangers ‘in for’ 19-goal striker, with competition from the Premier League and Serie A.

Rangers will have to shop wisely when the transfer window opens, with Philippe Clement looking to obtain improvements all across the pitch. As shown against Hearts, a more clinical front line is required if the Scottish Premiership title is to return to Ibrox next season.

Oscar Cortes appears to be returning to the club, and expectations for a permanent agreement for Abdallah Sima are strong, but Rangers fans can put their disappointing league campaign behind them with the news of a new striker grabbing the manager’s attention.

Rangers named in pursuit of on-fire hitman Albion Rrahmani. According to Kosovan football site @kosovanfooty_EN on X, the Light Blues have been linked with a prolific bagman.

Albion Rrahmani, a 23-year-old striker who previously played for Rapid Bucharest in Romania, is being considered for a summer transfer. Rrahmani has 19 goals and five assists in 29 games after joining from Kosovan club FC Ballkani for about £500,000.

To get an idea of the 4-times capped international’s style of play, think Gers-linked Bojan Miovski, but younger and a better ball carrier and he ticks a lot of boxes.

Speaking just a couple of days ago, Philippe Clement explained the sort of profile that he is looking for in what is going to be a testing window with a restricted budget:

“We know we have less money than our competition because they have more money and they have Champions League money now. So, we need to be more inventive, the recruitment needs to be more inventive.

“If your opponent has more money and can spend more you have to work better. That needs to be the challenge to make things better. We have to find better players for cheaper prices.

Rangers will need to move quickly for Rrahmani. Rrahmani, who stands 6 feet 2 inches tall, can take care of himself physically. Unlike Cyriel Dessers, the Kosovan dribbles with purpose and is elusive rather than appearing unsure of what he is doing with the ball.

The issue, which is significant, is that Napoli, Benfica, and Aston Villa are all sniffing around. Rangers do not have a blank cheque for the summer transfer window, therefore competing with top-five teams and huge spenders like Benfica is nearly impossible.

Nils Koppen, if Rrahmani is a target, must act immediately. Clubs prefer to do their business early, and it’s possible that Rapid wants to cash in on their top player to fund their transfer window. If there is a bidding war, Koppen will have to fold immediately. This might be a long summer.
