Why the Cowboys are most likely team to win NFC East
It’s been 19 years since an NFC East team won consecutive division crowns. The 2024 Dallas Cowboys have a chance to snap the run. The off-season disappointed fans and pundits, yet the
The 2024 Dallas Cowboys have a chance to snap the run. Despite a disappointing offseason for many fans and experts, the Cowboys appear poised to repeat as division champs. In the 2023 season, a young and talented roster went 12–5.
They did lose in sad way in the playoffs, but the regular season included an MVP campaign from Dak Prescott, record-breaking seasons from CeeDee Lamb and DaRon Bland, and dominance from Micah Parsons.
Dallas lost some significant players in free agency, but the heart of the team remains intact. The Cowboys have devastating weapons in their most vital spots.
For all the understandable gloom and doom, we can’t ignore how talented this roster is.
This is not just my opinion; almost all sportsbooks have the Cowboys as the betting odds favorite or tied with the Eagles for the division title.
These figures are significant, and they provide yet another compelling reason why Dallas could repeat as division champions this season. The Cowboys have held the Commanders, Eagles, and Giants’ phone numbers for a long. If they can match that level of performance this season, they will have a significant advantage in the rankings at the conclusion of it.
He had a 32-8 record in division games throughout his time with Prescott. You can blame the Commanders and Giants for their lack of success, but Philadelphia is also in the same predicament. Prescott holds a 9-4 record versus the Birds, with only one loss since 2020.
Let’s put narratives and personal feelings aside for a bit. Prescott is without a doubt the top quarterback in the NFC East, as evidenced by his statistics, record, and film. Jalen Hurts, Daniel Jones, and now Jayden Daniels are his title contenders, and they don’t match up. Hurts is the closest of the three, but he raises serious concerns.
It will take a lot of effort, but they are well-positioned to win the NFC East in 2024. Let’s look at some of the reasons why.
Last season, the Eagles’ front-man had 23 passing touchdowns to 15 interceptions, and 9 fumbles.
Remember, that’s with a supporting cast of A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and a ferocious offensive line. Prescott and Hurts are undisputed in terms of performance.
Jones is potentially on his way out of New York, and Daniels is unproven in the NFL.
Whenever you have the advantage at the quarterback position, you have a chance to win your division.
This stands true for the Cowboys in 2024.
There is no way to mince words here.
The Cowboys have completely dominated their division rivals in recent years.
In the last 10 years, Dallas has a 42-19 record and a 70% winning percentage against NFC East teams.
Keep in mind, that includes abysmal 2015 and 2020 seasons where they were without their starting quarterback.
