According to sources, John Lundstram is considering leaving Rangers to join an English team.
According to Football Insider, John Lundstram is considering returning to England after his contract with Rangers expires in June this year. On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke revealed that the midfielder may now leave Ibrox. The 30-year-old will be able to join a new club on a free if his deal at Ibrox isn’t extended before the end of next month.
Last month, Football Insider reported that Lundstram has had a lot of interest from English clubs, who are set to make him a contract offer in the coming weeks. Rangers are still hoping to negotiate an arrangement with the Englishman, but time is running out as they seek to retain his services for at least another season. John Lundstram might depart Rangers this summer. Lundstram has been a significant player at Ibrox since Philippe Clement joined in October of last year.
This season, the midfielder has 52 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and assisting eight times. He was fiercely attacked by Rangers fans after being sent off in the most recent Old Firm derby, a 2-1 loss to Celtic on May 11.
O’Rourke believes Lundstram has achieved “great success” during his three-year spell in Glasgow, having claimed two trophies and reached the final of the Europa League.
The Gers missed out on the Scottish Premiership title this season, and the Belgian will now hope to be supported in his first summer window at the club.
