According to Nathan Judah, one of Wolves’ finest players hasn’t played well at all lately.

After reaching season-highs earlier in the year, Wolves is closing off 2023–2024 with a decline in performance, with one player’s recent performances called into doubt. Wolves, who have one game left before the summer break in 2023–24, have had an outstanding season.

When Julen Lopetegui left the Old Gold a few days before the Premier League season began in August of that year, it was hard to imagine them being anything other than contenders for relegation.

Although the squad, which is perilously thin in depth, has performed better since Gary O’Neil took over, Wolves’ season has ended despite all of the effort put in early in the season.

A number of factors may have contributed to the Midlands club’s recent turn in fortunes, but one important one is player performance, as one typically dependable player has come under fire for his recent performances.

For weeks, Nathan Judah has felt Mario Lemina hasn’t lived up to expectations.

Because of his flawless support of the team throughout the season, Mario Lemina was named Wolves’ Supporters Player of the Season last week. Although the midfielder, who has been among O’Neil’s most dependable players this season, deserves the accolade, the Gabon international has recently seen a little downturn along with his colleagues.

When discussing the E&S Wolves Podcast, journalist Nathan Judah noted that Lemina, 30, has declined in quality amidst Wolves’ dismal run of play. Lemina was added to the list of players who haven’t ‘been the greatest’ lately.

“I don’t think Mario Lemina has had the best month—probably five weeks—but he did win Player of the Season pretty properly. Although not many players have, in my opinion, he hasn’t been the best.

Undoubtedly, Wolves’ players are worn out from a difficult season of dealing with the Premier League’s small roster, which has forced important players like Lemina to stand up.

Once more, Wolves have a dismal finish to a Premier League campaign. When talking about Wolves’ end-of-season awards, Lemina’s play was criticized, and the Gabon international’s decline in quality was noted.

Despite the Old Gold’s disappointment at the decline in quality, the story is not shocking given how the team usually wraps out their Premier League schedules.

Lemina has merely abandoned the team ahead of the season’s last day, continuing an unwelcome trend at Molineux. O’Neil’s team is currently enjoying a run of form that has seen them win just one of their last nine league games.

The Midlands team won just one of its final five league games under Lopetegui’s leadership, continuing a dismal finish to 2022–23 in which Wolves had lost their final seven games.

History might not have been repeated after the kind of performance that Wolves supporters grew accustomed to during this campaign.

Lemina and his teammates have one more game in the 2023–2024 season, against Liverpool, which gives them the chance to end their career on a memorable note by interrupting Jurgen Klopp’s farewell celebration.
