Tottenham is one of the only teams in the running to sign a “world class” player.

Tottenham need to sign a new striker this summer.

After trading the England captain last summer, the north London team still hasn’t effectively replaced Harry Kane, thus a new number nine is required.

Fascinatingly, Tottenham may now choose to use one of Kane’s England backups in lieu of him.

According to Dean Jones, who made this claim while speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, there’s a chance that Tottenham would pursue Ivan Toney this summer because there aren’t many other teams interested in him right now.

Tottenham one of the only teams in for Ivan ToneyJones discussed the Tottenham connection of the “world class” striker.

They’re among the clubs interested in Ivan Toney, and since so few other teams are left in the running for Ivan Toney, it’s possible that they end up with him, according to Jones. Is it possible for Brentford to sell for £45 million? Ivan Toney wants to leave Brentford, and I’m not sure what the club gets in return for keeping him around, even if I don’t think they want to.

Ivan Toney could be a bargain

At one point, it looked as though Ivan Toney would cost an absolute fortune.

At one point, the England international was valued at £100 million, but as Jones notes, interest in Toney has decreased, and a move of £45 million may now be sufficient to get the striker. You would be getting a steal of a striker at that kind of price.

Tottenham needs Toney to score 20 goals a season, and he has demonstrated at Brentford that he has what it takes to do it.

Since there isn’t much competition right now, Spurs would be smart to intensify their interest in Toney this summer. A striker of this caliber doesn’t come available for sale very frequently.
