Rangers loanee hopes to impress Philippe Clement and secure Ibrox stay.

Rangers loanee hopes to impress Philippe Clement and secure Ibrox stay.

Rangers will need to rebuild in the summer, but Philippe Clement will not simply go elsewhere for reinforcements. The manager has a track record of playing young players, and evaluating the academy talent at Auchenhowie will be part of his squad building.

One player who hopes to make the cut left Rangers to go on loan in January, but his chances of staying at Ibrox will be slim.

Arron Lyall looking to sort out Rangers future
Arron Lyall couldn’t have tried any harder this season in his attempts to earn a new Rangers contract.

He is consistently available, works hard, and has the proper mindset. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder/winger has impressed at Airdrie in the second part of the season, and Lyall told The Daily Record that he hopes to get his shot at the big time. “Conversations must be had, and my contract expires in the summer. Many of the finer nuances are beyond my control; all I want to do is play football.

“You need to have conversations with the parent club and the club you are coming on loan to. We thought Airdrie was the best fit.

“Being at Rangers, they dominate most of the ball in most games. Airdrie is similar, they play a lot of football, dominate the ball and play a lot of lovely stuff.

“I think for all parties, it was beneficial for everybody.

“You absolutely want to be playing at the top level, for as long as you can.
“If you can get your shot there [at Rangers], it’s the biggest club in the country, really. I’m going to take it if I can.”

Charlie Adam went out on loan to St Mirren nearly 20 years ago, proving that he possessed the talent and ability to play in Rangers’ first squad. Since then, no outfield player has done something similar.

Stephen Kelly was always successful at clubs like as Ayr United, Ross County, and Livingston, but Steven Gerrard simply did not trust him enough. Alex Lowry began the season well at Hearts, but a change in system saw him spend more time on the bench, prompting his return to Rangers. Arron Lyall, like Stephen Kelly, is a very good young footballer. This summer, there will be plenty of teams in the SPFL interested in signing him.

However, as Rangers fans have seen with Ross McCausland this season, numbers will always be used to measure attacking players, regardless of age. Lyall, like McCausland, simply hasn’t done enough.
