Wolves and Leeds United are involved in a transfer battle for a West Ham star who is expected to leave the Hammers.

The West Ham United player is ready to depart during the summer transfer window, as Rangers, Leeds United, and Wolves are all interested in acquiring him.

Along with Leeds United and other teams, Wolves are reportedly Rangers’ rivals in the race for a West Ham player. A 2-1 loss to Celtic on Saturday all but destroyed the Light Blues’ chances of winning the Premiership, and they now appear headed for a significant summer makeover.

Ben Johnson, a versatile defender for West Ham who has an expiring contract in the summer, is one player they are reportedly keeping an eye on.

Though they haven’t made any announcements yet, Crystal Palace has been considered as a serious contender for his signing. Others are on notice because Johnson “is ready to snub West Ham’s final contract offer,” according to the Sunday People.

In addition to “pushing a host of Championship clubs, including Leeds, who are keen on striking a deal,” Wolves are rumored to have joined Rangers in their pursuit.

Although James Tavernier and Connor Goldson have been linked to Saudi Arabia, Borna Barisic and Leon Balogun are two Ibrox defenders without contracts this summer.

In February of last year, Johnson touted his versatility as a star throughout the backline, offering an insight into the kind of player teams are fighting for.

“I’m happy to play wherever the manager wants to put me,” he told the club’s reporters during a match against Manchester United.

It takes some getting used to being in that position again, even though I enjoyed playing there when I was younger. However, I like to think that I can do that work and that I’m willing to learn. Whenever the team needs me, I want to step in and contribute as much as I can.

“There are undoubtedly certain advantages to Old Trafford for me. I can only perform to the level of the squad, of course.

Overall, I thought the group put up some strong performances, and for my part, I just want to keep playing and having fun with football.
