Neil McCann is stunned by a moment from Fabio Silva during Celtic vs. Rangers live on BBC.

As Rangers lost to Celtic, Neil McCann chastised Fabio Silva for essentially being a passenger. Silva did little to cut out the pass in the build-up to Celtic’s second goal in the first half and squandered a couple of excellent chances.

The Wolves loanee’s performance in Saturday’s (May 11) 2-1 loss at Parkhead was subpar overall, thus ending the title battle. “Fabio Siva down the left channel doesn’t do enough,” McCann stated in a statement on BBC Sportscene [May 11, 19:14]. “He was consistently caught studying the ball and has squandered two significant opportunities in the game, one of which was a guilt-edged one.

Silva was not the only player to take responsibility for the loss; today’s number one public nemesis is John Lundstram. In the end, Rangers failed to show up for another Old Firm match, and that is just unacceptable.

You can’t do that in this fixture. If you do, you get punished.”

Fabio Silva not only player to blame for Rangers
Silva has rightly come in for a lot of criticism for struggling both offensively and defensively against Celtic.

In the attacker’s defence, at least he was making things happen in the first half, albeit without making the most of his opportunities.

It was the defensive aspect of the game – or lack of it – that frustrated so many, however, as Celtic raced into an easy 2-0 lead.

Given the Portuguese’s loan spell is soon due to be up, you have to imagine he will not be returning once recalled by Wolves.

Although the title is gone, there is still a chance for redemption in a few weeks when the team plays in the Scottish Cup final.
