A new transfer target for Celtic has been discovered ahead of the summer transfer window; the player in question is set to become a free agent.
Rumors of a Celtic transfer Although Brendan Rodgers and his team are currently totally focused on defeating Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership, the Hoops leadership is quietly getting ready for what may be another hectic summer.
Before the 2024–2025 season, at least three new players could be added; a goalkeeper, winger, and striker are desired.
The primary priority is finding a replacement for the retiring Joe Hart, and players like Michael Zetterer of Werder Bremen, Anthony Patterson of Sunderland, Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor, and Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool are all mentioned as potential candidates.
A fresh name has surfaced in the last 48 hours, one that started his career in Glasgow, but Tom Glover, the Middlesbrough shot stopper, also seems to be of interest.
Liam Kelly, the goalkeeper for Motherwell, is being pursued by Celtic Goalie Liam Kelly of Motherwell is currently on Celtic’s summer wish list, according to The Daily Mail. According to the article, Stevie Woods, the goalie coach at Celtic and a former Scotland player, is familiar with Kelly, who will be going free this summer.
After going through the Rangers system, the 28-year-old signed with Ibrox as a professional in 2015–2018. He then had long-term contracts with Livingston, Queens Park Rangers, and Motherwell.
Kelly has been a fixture at Fir Park, and Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell believes he can earn a spot in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for EURO 2024. Kettlewell recently stated: “He has been involved in all those squads.” He is an individual with experience in Scotland.
While I am aware that my opinion is prejudiced, I would really like to believe that he has done enough to maintain his position and join the group that is going to Germany in the summer.
Kettlewell also said, “It is a great landmark and it is continuous as well,” following his 150th consecutive game for Motherwell. I don’t believe there has been a pause in that, though occasionally that might not apply to goalkeeper.
That seems like an amazing thing to me. Against Aberdeen, he was superb. When we were down to 10 men, he did need to make a couple saves, but you could see how proactive he is in taking charge as captain and leader. He made an attempt to get us back into the fray.
Although some may contend that a goalie couldn’t have spoken it, observe his body language and understand what it means to him. On Saturday, he made another excellent contribution to our cause.
After this update, a cheap move to Celtic Park might be something to keep an eye on, although teams in England are also interested in Kelly, so the Hoops might need to move soon.
