The Scottish Football Writers’ Manager of the Year award goes to Philippe Clement, who tops a four-person shortlist.
If things go right for the Belgian, who took over for Michael Beale in October, Rangers might win a historic Triple Crown in the coming weeks.
In Saturday’s crucial Old Firm match at Parkhead, Clement can tie Celtic on points if he can orchestrate an Old Firm victory. Clement has previously guided the Gers to Viaplay Cup gold and into the Europa League last 16.
A week after the Scottish Premiership title is awarded, on May 25, the Glasgow giants square off again at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final.
John McGlynn, the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year, will compete with Clement for the esteemed award. At the glamorous event in Glasgow on Sunday, Falkirk manager McGlynn received recognition for leading the Bairns to an undefeated League One title victory.
Derek McInnes, the manager of Kilmarnock, is also vying for the prize after doing a fantastic job at Rugby Park this year. Killie, who are close to securing fourth place, have clinched European football under McInnes’ leadership after three victories against the Old Firm.
Tony Docherty of Dundee, who assisted in leading the Dark Blues to their first top-six result in the top division since 2015, is the last contender for the award.
At the SFWA dinner on Sunday, May 19, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Glasgow, the winner of the William Hill Manager of the Year award will be presented with their trophy.
