According to a Yorkshire Evening Post story, Leeds United is “expected” to sever connections with Cody Drameh when his contract expires this summer.
The right wing-back will be released by Leeds United at the end of the next month, at which point he will be available for free. During his season-long loan at Birmingham City, he was unable to stop the Midlands team’s relegation to League One.
The 22-year-old Drameh made 30 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, 28 of which were in the league, but by the time he left St Andrew’s under Gary Rowett, he was playing less and less.
Over the next several months, he will need to make a significant decision on his future. The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the Whites are unlikely to extend his contract before the upcoming campaign.
As Daniel Farke’s team gets ready for their play-off semifinal matchups against Norwich City, it’s unclear what league they’ll be in.
Man set to leave Leeds United Drameh played 10 first-team games for Leeds United since joining the Yorkshire club in 2020. Prior to that, he was at Fulham.
In 2021, he was cleared to go out on loan for the first time when Cardiff City made an approach. He played 22 games for the Bluebirds to advance his career before returning to his parent club.
After joining Luton Town in January 2022, the former England youth international assisted Rob Edwards’ Kenilworth Road team as they were promoted to the Premier League. He took part in their victory over Coventry City in the play-off final at Wembley.
He was signed by Birmingham City in an intriguing deal last summer on a temporary basis. But they have had a terrible last ten months or so, and they are currently in the third tier.
What next for Leeds United wing-back?
Despite his youth, Drameh will have gained a lot of experience from his most recent loan stint away from Leeds United.
It is thought that the Whites will allow him to leave because they don’t think he has much chance of making the team.
Though it is unfortunate for them, he will be leaving for nothing at this time and they won’t be able to collect a transfer fee for him.Now that Birmingham City has lost, a comeback is improbable. He would be a valuable acquisition to another second-tier squad, though.
