Celtic is going all out to fulfill the preseason prophecy of the manager.

The season has felt like multiple campaigns combined, considering everything that has transpired since Brendan Rodgers decided to take the helm of Celtic in June.

While some fans were not in favor of his reappointment, it’s safe to say that his return to Scottish football has been everything but uneventful in his first season.

His plans were set backwards from the start; before the ball was kicked, he would lose Carl Starfelt to Celta Vigo, Jota to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, and Aaron Mooy retired.

No one in Rodgers’ starting lineup for our most recent match against Hearts was one of the seven permanent signings that were made during the summer transfer window.

The manager’s struggles are evident when you consider the early-season disputes between the team and the Green Brigade, the widely reported departure of Israeli international Liel Abada, and the injuries to important players like Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate, and Callum McGregor.

But now, all of the controversy and discussion surrounding his reappointment as well as the difficulties of his first season back in the captain’s chair will center on this weekend’s matchup against the Rangers.

For the first time this season, Rodgers says he will have access to the “best version of the team” when Daizen Maeda and other players are back to full health.

As Celtic seems to be doing, there is no better moment to peak than in the latter games of a protracted season.

Brendan Rodgers stepped in front of the Jock Stein statue at Celtic Park and said, “I’ll see you in May,” upon being reintroduced to the fans in the summer.

He made it clear that he intended to win the Scottish Premiership again, sending a forceful message to those who had doubts.

We should find out in the coming days how true the manager’s prophesy was now that May has arrived.
