The ‘All In’ Dallas Cowboys have signed twelve undrafted free agents.
The ‘all in’ approach that Jerry Jones, the owner, predicted the Dallas Cowboys would possess throughout the offseason has not at all materialized. Following a relatively quiet free agency and an unmemorable draft, the team is preparing for Friday’s rookie minicamp.
Twelve undrafted free agents have now reached agreements with them, and come Friday, they ought to be able to sign them all.
It is anticipated that Dallas would sign a wide range of players at various positions. They are bringing in two weapons: tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford and linebacker Corey Crooms, both from the University of Minnesota. Spann-Ford played 49 games for the Golden Gophers over the course of six seasons, hauling in 75 receptions for 867 yards and five scores.
Crooms, on the other hand, joined the team for the 2023 season after transferring, and he had a quiet year, catching 28 passes for 376 yards in his one season. Crooms did, however, play in 42 games for his former school, Western Michigan, where he had 115 receptions for 1,766 yards and 12 touchdowns.
While these guys do not jump of the screen, the team already has some elite weapons in CeeDee Lamb and Dalton Schultz. These guys may not end up on the final roster, but it is good to see Dallas trying to find anything that works. Dallas does not have money to spend at the moment, so they will need to find some cheap talent.
Dallas is searching far and wide for a major steal among the players that were left undrafted. The following UDFAs are all anticipated to sign with Dallas:
Baylor defensive lineman Byron Vaughns
Safety in East Carolina Wood Julius
defensive tackle from Illinois Denzel Daxon
Missouri wide receiver Nathaniel Peat’s safety in Nevada Emerson Johnson
Northwestern wide receiver Cam Johnson
Brock Mogensen, a linebacker for South Dakota
Texas A&M security Jason Johnson, Josh DeBerry, and UCF linebacker
UCF tight end Alec Holler
This large group of undrafted players will join Dallas’ rookie draft class that featured:
first-round offensive lineman Tyler Guyton, third-round offensive lineman Cooper Beebe, third-round linebacker Marist Liufau, fifth-round cornerback Caelen Carson, sixth-round wide receiver Ryan Flournoy, seventh-round offensive lineman Nathan Thomas and seventh-round defensive tackle Justin Rogers.
Dallas can go one of two ways for this upcoming season. They can either come back stronger and hungrier after the embarrassment they suffered last season in the playoffs, or they can fall of drastically and be looking at a full rebuild soon. The team is clearly still very far away from the ‘all in’ mentality.
