Fabio Silva got into a brawl in the dressing room prior to Kilmarnock’s 4-1 victory at Ibrox, and his celebration towards the Rangers supporters generated controversy.
Former Scotland striker Frank McAvennie expressed his displeasure with the forward’s conduct in an exclusive interview with Football Insider.
He insisted that the forward shouldn’t have responded to criticism in that manner following a string of subpar performances.
This happens after supporters called the striker’s celebration on social media “disgraceful” and “embarrassing”.
The pressure of competing for the title with Celtic must be getting to McAvennie and Silva, he continued, adding that he had been informed there had been a fight in the Ibrox dressing room.
Rangers striker Fabio Silva has Frank McAvennie fuming at him. McAvennie was not happy with Silva’s behavior, asking why he would tell his own supporters to “shut up” with his celebration because “everybody gets stick,” and he would have to handle it himself. “I didn’t think Silva was as good.
He told Football Insider, “I didn’t like him going to the Rangers fans and doing that.”
I’m thinking, why are you doing that? Because they’re giving you stick? You’ve not been playing well, you’re entitled to get stick.
“Everybody gets stick.
He’s giving all that to them, [telling them to] shut up. Really?
They probably won’t admit it because it’s rumor, but from what I’ve been informed, there was a fight in the changing room. Nevertheless, the pressure is wearing thin. “This is the first time in years that Celtic have been that close, but they have been through this before.
