The Colombian winger arrived at Ibrox in January and immediately made an explosive impression before an injury ended his season early in March.
An option to buy was part of the Gers’ agreement to sign Cortes for the second half of the season in Glasgow, but it’s believed that both teams have been negotiating a lower price.
A final decision is anticipated to be made soon, according to French site CanalRCN, since Philippe Clement is eager to retain the 20-year-old past the summer.
And given the gifted wide player’s ailment, Lens probably has to accept a lesser fee if he wants to stay for good.
The Belgian stated: “We are discussing the current state of affairs with Lens because it differs from what it was when he was fit.
He was doing the right things while he was fit, but it was only temporary. It must then be reasonably priced.
