Keith Jackson called Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, “infantile” for his reaction to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers prior to the Old Firm match.
The Gers travel to Glasgow to play the Hoops on Saturday, May 11, with the intention of tying the score at the top of the table. However, Rodgers has stated that his team is simply playing for pleasure.
Following the Light Blues’ victory over Kilmarnock, Clement found such remarks offensive, and Daily Record writer Jackson referred to the response as “unnecessary and manufactured.”
He wrote the following for the Daily Record on May 7: “After his own team’s 4-1 victory over Kilmarnock the day before, Clement made a point of reacting to Rodgers’ words without needing any prodding. It came across as being strangely prickly.” “It did feel a little bit unnecessary and manufactured – bordering on infantile,” the Belgian said, claiming his rival was intentionally being disrespectful.
Regarding this long-standing rivalry, however, the bizarre altercation is more than simply a minor dispute; it also portends how these two men will handle the days and weeks ahead of them.
