For a fresh “spat,” Keith Jackson lashes out at Rangers manager Philippe Clement, calling him “infantile.”

Keith Jackson called Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, “infantile” for his reaction to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers prior to the Old Firm match.

The Gers travel to Glasgow to play the Hoops on Saturday, May 11, with the intention of tying the score at the top of the table. However, Rodgers has stated that his team is simply playing for pleasure.

Following the Light Blues’ victory over Kilmarnock, Clement found such remarks offensive, and Daily Record writer Jackson referred to the response as “unnecessary and manufactured.”

He wrote the following for the Daily Record on May 7: “After his own team’s 4-1 victory over Kilmarnock the day before, Clement made a point of reacting to Rodgers’ words without needing any prodding. It came across as being strangely prickly.” “It did feel a little bit unnecessary and manufactured – bordering on infantile,” the Belgian said, claiming his rival was intentionally being disrespectful.

Regarding this long-standing rivalry, however, the bizarre altercation is more than simply a minor dispute; it also portends how these two men will handle the days and weeks ahead of them.

Will Rangers defeat Celtic at Parkhead result in Philippe Clement’s team winning the Scottish Premiership? The Old Firm derby is always a good showdown, but the remarks made by Rodgers and Clement before Saturday’s big game have made sure that it will be even more of one.

The Belgian will claim he isn’t concerned about the Northern Irishman’s remarks, but it is obvious that he has been slightly alarmed by Rodgers’ attempts to downplay the importance of the match and gain access to the Gers’ mind.

That makes sense given how much is at stake for only one game. The Gers might pull off the impossible and wriggle back into the Premiership title chase if the Light Blues win all three points at Parkhead.

The war of words won’t be over just yet because there are still a few news conferences before kickoff on Saturday. One of the most thrilling Glasgow derbies in recent memory looks to be in store for us.
