Dallas Cowboys Predicted To Make Blockbuster Trade For AFC Pro-Bowl Running Back

Dallas Cowboys Predicted To Make Blockbuster Trade For AFC Pro-Bowl Running Back

The Dallas Cowboys were predicted to have a huge offseason because they had so many decisions to make that might alter the course of the franchise.

The Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, has stated that the team is going “all-in” for 2024 and has chosen to keep Mike McCarthy on the team for one another season in an attempt to see if he can lead the talented group past the opening round of the playoffs and perhaps even meet Jones’s lofty Super Bowl ambitions.

But instead of making any significant free agent moves to replace the talent the team lost from last year’s squad, Jones and the Cowboys brass made only a few modest moves. The most notable was bringing back RB Ezekiel Elliott as the team’s running back room looks concerning to say the least.

The Dallas Cowboys have yet to reach a contract extension with CeeDee Lamb, who is expected to hold out of any team activities until he inks a new deal. In another odd move, Dallas opted not to give Dak Prescott a contract extension which would have freed up cap space to add new talent to the roster. Instead, Jones said he and Prescott have a mutual agreement to let the Cowboys’ franchise QB to play out the final year of his current contract, leaving room for a real possibility he leaves after the 2024 season.

After a fantastic regular season where Dallas won the NFC East with a (12-5) record which gave them home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs, the Cowboys were dominated by a young, surging Green Bay Packers team.
The first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love was able to mimic Patrick Mahomes thanks to the inability of one of the league’s best defenses to stop the run. Dak Prescott and the offense also struggled, which was unusual for 2023.

Prescott finished what was likely his finest regular season ever and was considered for NFL MVP this year. With the youngest roster in the NFL and a starting quarterback in his rookie year, the Green Bay Packers were favored by two points going into their wildcard round battle against the Dallas Cowboys.

Prescott finished the 2023 NFL regular season ranked among the top five in a number of important passing metrics. Prior to facing the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in the playoffs, he had accumulated 4,516 yards (3rd), 36 touchdowns (1st), 9 interceptions, and a QB rating of 72.5 (2nd).

Ultimately, Prescott and CeeDee Lamb developed a great rapport and became perhaps the best quarterback/wide receiver combination in the league.
Beyond Dak Prescott and the explosive offense that averaged 389 yards and 30 points per game and finished with 77 touchdowns in the regular season, the Dallas Cowboys had a defense that finished the season ranked 5th in the NFL.

Now, the Cowboys will enter 2024 with more pressure than ever and it feels like they need to add another major piece if they are going to truly contend this season.

The Dallas Cowboys featured a defense that concluded the season rated fifth in the NFL, which went along with an explosive offense led by Dak Prescott that averaged 389 yards and 30 points per game and finished with 77 touchdowns in the regular season.

The Cowboys are under more pressure than ever heading into 2024, and it appears like they need to add a key player if they want to actually compete this season.
