Ange Postecoglou discusses his mentality following Liverpool’s four-goal assault.

Even though Tottenham Hotspur found themselves four goals behind Liverpool after less than an hour, Ange Postecoglou thought the team could still salvage at least a point.

Additionally, the Spurs manager downplayed a heated moment that occurred at halftime when goalie Guglielmo Vicaro had to pull Cristian Romero away from teammate Emerson Royal.

The Reds were in complete control of their Premier League match against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday thanks to goals from Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Cody Gakpo, Richarlison, and Heung-Min Son. However, in the last 20 minutes, they let up, allowing Tottenham to regain some momentum.

The visitors hadn’t managed a single shot on target during the first half and barely threatened until Richarlison and James Maddison were introduced after Elliott’s goal.

Postecoglou was certain that his squad had played well even though they had been vastly outplayed in the first hour.

He added, “I know we were losing 4-0, but I don’t think we were playing poorly. Against good opposition, we lacked cutting edge in the opposing box.” “We made an effort to play; this does not indicate a mental health issue. We made an effort to present a different side of ourselves.

We had a mountain to climb at 4-0, but we applied pressure to the other team. We had a few goals and had the opportunity for more. Even though it’s disheartening, we gave it our best shot.

“Even at 4-0, I believed we could still win the game because I knew we could.
“Maybe in the front third there’s a confidence problem. I thought our football was good. It probably is a bit of lack of confidence but that’s something guys have to work through. You have to find a way to snap out of that.”

“It was a really disappointing outcome for us,” Postecoglou continued. In contrast to our last two away games, where we simply didn’t try to play football, by the end we were more like ourselves.
