There are occasions when you just have to brag a little bit, therefore we are proud to announce that renowned football journalist Andrew H. Smith is joining The Celtic Underground and departing from broadsheet journalism.
Andrew began working as a journalist at The Celtice View more than thirty years ago, just before the Fergus McCann revolution, which he goes into great detail about in two of our upcoming podcasts.
He began a thirty-year career in journalism after leaving The View, working first for Scotland on Sunday and later for the Scotsman, where he covered Celtic and Rangers football.
Andrew has over thirty years of experience covering sports in Scotland, ranging from European cup finals to international football matches. His campaign against racism and sectarianism in Scottish football has been vocal, and he has been shortlisted for UK awards.
With Andrew’s arrival, there will be some changes to our website and the information we distribute; more details will be available soon. Football fans conversing with other fans about their club has given rise to fan media in this increasingly fragmented media landscape where consumers are creating their own echo chambers of ideas and information.

As a result of producing the podcast, we’ve observed that listeners anticipate constant increase in quality. The days of talking on the phone while walking the dog and accepting passing autos while engaging in Celtic conversation are long gone.

Thus, we are adding a small amount of quality along with the typical garbage. After working for a broadsheet newspaper for a while, Andrew Smith is joining Celtic Underground.
He plans to use his vast network of contacts to present listeners with a variety of exceptional speakers. There will soon be further information available regarding the quality and amount of podcasts as well as some updates to the website.
