Philippe Clement is eyeing the winger as Rangers tease the transfer update for Raphael Borges Rodrigues.

Philippe Clement’s summer spending spree will require Rangers to make amends when the transfer market opens.

The manager gave an indication of the path he hopes to take with his January additions, all of whom are young and have room to grow.
The Rangers have shortlisted winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues, and names have begun to surface, according to Football Scotland.

Playing for Macarthur in Australia’s A-League, he has six goals and two assists after leaving Melbourne City to get more regular game time.

These numbers might not be hugely impressive but it is his style of play that is catching the eye as the clip below shows.

Raphael Borges Rodrigues, a winger, is a target for the Rangers.
Despite having a strong footballing background—his parents are Brazilian and he was born in the Netherlands—the 20-year-old Raphael is becoming well-known in Australia.

He left Melbourne City to play for Macarthur in the Australian A-League, where he already has six goals and two assists in as many games.

Even while these numbers aren’t very outstanding, his playing style is what’s drawing attention, as the video below demonstrates.

Raphael drawing the foul off none other than the son of former Rangers defender Tony Vidmar.

His first goal for Macarthur is also a good example of him being more than happy to stick his head in where it hurts.

Like Oscar Cortes, he has the physical and technical attributes needed to be a winger for Rangers.

Rodrigues also ticks every box on the player trading model.

A model that Clement knows won’t be perfected overnight when asked about his aims to improve this aspect of the club’s transfer policy:

“Yes, for sure but it’s something you need to build.
“It’s not something you can do in one year. You also need to build a reputation as a club.

“It’s about the level of the club. If you sell someone for a certain amount and he does really well somewhere else, it opens doors for the next ones.

“People say, ‘Ok, he’s coming from Rangers, that is somewhere to look’.

“That’s something that, for example, Ajax did for a long time. Then if a player was at Ajax or another team, there was a difference in value.
“Brugge has been engaged in this activity for several years. That’s what we kind of started at that club.

“Thiago was now sold for 37 million. As a result, you notice that these sums increase annually since you have built a name.

Being a platform for young players to grow and eventually advance is what the club needs to accomplish.

“Time is needed for that.” A reputation is not formed in a matter of two or three months.

Rafael is the ideal illustration of a player trading model.
Clement is accurate.

Although the fundamentals are already in place, it won’t significantly improve in a single transfer window.

Players that have paved the way include Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo, and Rangers record salesman Calvin Bassey. All three have since adjusted and are succeeding in England.

In fact, if fortune favors them all, the three of them might be playing in the Premier League.

It would be shocking if Cortes and Mohamed Diomande weren’t confirmed as permanent signings in the summer.

More players with Cortes’ ability to carry the ball, use both feet, and contribute when it counts most are exactly what Rangers need.

Raphael Borges Rodrigues is capable of doing all of these things, thus the Rangers need to start acquiring players before they get too pricey and before their career takes off.

Though nothing is guaranteed, Raphael’s career appears to be going in a single direction.
