“I exited in the wrong way,” says the former Rangers manager in response to Ibrox’s dismissal and talk of going back to his former team.

As he spoke with Feyenoord about the possibility of going back to the dugout, Giovanni van Bronckhorst asserted that he left Rangers in the wrong way.

Following an appalling Champions League group stage campaign that left him nine points behind Celtic in the title fight, the Dutchman was fired in November 2022, only one year into his job.

Many considered this to be a violation of the managerial rule, as Michael Beale took his position. Beale had attended an Ibrox match during Van Bronckhorst’s battle to keep his job.

The former captain of the Netherlands is currently a TV analyst in his native country and is being considered to take over as manager of his former team Feyenoord in place of Arne Slot, who is headed to Liverpool.

In addition to playing more than 2000 games for the Rotterdam team, Van Bronckhorst led the team from 2015 to 2019, during which time he won two KNVB Cups and one league championship.

Van Bronckhorst is the clear favorite to succeed Slot, according to Dick Advocaat, a former manager of the Rangers and Feyenoord.

In response to a query concerning the possibility of returning to De Kuip, Van Bronckhorst mentioned Ibrox’s departure. He remarked, “I don’t know if it makes it harder to go back to a club where you were successful in the past.

I went to Rangers as a player and later as a manager. And I departed in a manner that wasn’t right for me. Everyone knows that, of course, Feyenoord is my heart’s club. That was the first time I walked in when I was seven years old.

However, nothing is occurring at this time. It’s not something I’ve had to consider yet. I had a fantastic time at Feyenoord, of course. After serving as an assistant for four years, I became a manager for four. I experienced many amazing moments. I treasure that.
