Michael Malone made fun of the officials for failing to call Nikola Jokic a foul during their victory in Game 5.
As the Denver Nuggets defeated the Lakers 108-106 in Game 5, head coach Michael Malone took a final shot at the officials, mockingly complimenting Nikola Jokic for missing zero free throws on a night when he didn’t receive a single penalty that would have sent him to the line.

For the most part of the game, Jokic played a somewhat passive role, letting Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. be effective offensive threats by running the offense. Jokic had several opportunities to go to the line, but there is one play in particular that many fans feel was unfairly reversed following a challenge, since it would have given the center free throws.
These remarks preceded an article published by The Athletic, which stated that the Lakers are presently debating whether to hire a new coach and that Darvin Ham’s future there is uncertain after two seasons.
The Athletic has learned from league and team sources that Ham’s future as head coach of the Lakers is seriously jeopardized due to their disappointing season. Some stakeholders have expressed doubts about his ability to return. Before deciding on a course of action, it is intended to review all that went wrong over the next few days. The team would have to pay Ham’s remaining contract if he were fired because he signed a four-year contract for almost $5 million per season in 2022.”
Against Ham, Coach Malone has a 13-3 record throughout the two seasons that Ham has led the Lakers. With eight of those victories occurring during the postseason, the Nuggets have solidified their dominance over the Lakers throughout this time. If Malone can sustain the Nuggets’ current level of success, he will have an as solid position as coaches Gregg Popovich and Erik Spoelstra. He spent ten years creating this squad as a coach, therefore it is unrealistic to expect these kinds of outcomes without working with a coach for an extended period of time.
