Daizen Maeda is expected to be a key player in Celtic’s season-ending win following an unexpectedly quick comeback from his injury.
Maeda appeared destined to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a hamstring tendon injury, which prevented him from playing since the 3-3 tie with Rangers on April 7.
However, on Friday at Celtic’s Lennoxtown training facility, he was back jogging and kicking a ball with the medical staff, and manager Brendan Rodgers might have him back following Sunday’s crucial Premiership match at Dundee.
“I mentioned previously that the information we were given was that he was probably going to be out for the remainder of the season,” stated the Celtic boss.
But his response has been excellent. He disappeared and underwent further scans, but now that he’s back on the field, it seems as though he never left.
This season, Maeda has made 32 appearances for Celtic in all competitions, scoring nine goals and dishing out three assists.
