The kick-off time for this season’s Scottish Cup final between Rangers and Celtic has been confirmed.
The Scottish FA has declared that the main event will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, as is customary. Naturally, the match, which will conclude Scotland’s domestic season, will take place at Glasgow’s Hampden Park. The match will be shown live on television thanks to rights acquired by both BBC and Premier Sports.
It is already official that there will be a meeting between the Scottish Cup and FA Cup finals this season. The English version is contested at Wembley on the same day and at the same time, with Manchester defeating London on the same day. According to a statement on the SFA website, “Celtic and Rangers will play in the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, May 25 at 3 p.m., live on BBC One Scotland and Premier Sports.”
The 150th anniversary edition of the sport has yielded even more memorable events this season. This past weekend, Rangers defeated Heart of Midlothian on Sunday to guarantee their spot in the championship match after Celtic defeated Aberdeen on penalties in a historic Semi-Final on Saturday. “On Sunday, May 26th, the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Final will occur. “Tickets are still available for this weekend’s Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup Semi-Finals between Rangers and Celtic on Saturday, 27 April, and Spartans and Heart of Midlothian on Sunday, 28 April, both games kicking off at 12.15pm.”
The announcement will be warmly welcomed by both teams’ supporters, after rumors circulated online suggesting that a 12.30 p.m. kickoff time had been suggested. But that’s addressed by this. The final last season between Celtic and Inverness kicked off at an odd hour of 5.30 p.m.
