Manchester City gets passed over by the departing Rangers coach. There is nothing Ibrox Club can do to prevent departure.

It’s a busy week for Feyenoord and it seems while they’re dealing with matters in the first team, they’re also doing business elsewhere, including securing the arrival of Rangers’ Zeb Jacobs.

That’s according to 1908, who report that Jacobs has been lured away from his Ibrox coaching to replace Rini Coolen as the head of youth at the Dutch club. They explain that Jacobs has been targeted to replace Coolen, who is departing the Dutch side, after impressing at Rangers since arriving at the beginning of 2022. Despite not being part of Philippe Clement’s core set-up, Jacobs has been doing important work elsewhere at the club, and that’s won him fans.

He was originally head of coaching at Rangers under various managers but was promoted to Academy Director. He is also a member of the FIFA and UEFA committee for youth development. That’s made Feyenoord convinced he can lead their youth sector and they moved quickly to get him ahead of Manchester City, who had also approached him. Fortunately for them they didn’t have to speak to Rangers about a move as Jacobs has a notice period in his current contract at Ibrox. The decision to appoint him was made through a selection committee and now the move has been finalised.

How much of a blow this is to Philippe Clement’s side moving forward remains to be seen but the 29-year-old will be moving to the Netherlands this summer.
