Jerry Jones hasn’t changed his mind about going “all in, even though free agency remains quiet

Jerry Jones hasn’t changed his mind about going “all in.” The owner of the Dallas Cowboys is remaining true to the two terms he used to explain the team’s goals early this year, even though free agency remains quiet. In a Tuesday media appearance, Jones restated the claim with regard to the Cowboys’ current roster.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Jones stated, “(I’m) very proud of this roster.” “We are really optimistic about the potential of the club we will have this year with this roster, even though we do not yet know how much the rookies will contribute. Young players will step up; names that don’t make it because they’ve departed and aren’t on the roster will step up. Those guys need to take the initiative.

“We’re all in with these young guys. We’re all in with this draft.”

In the past few months, Dallas has lost plenty of key players during free agency. Among those who departed for other teams are five-time All-Pro Tyron Smith and Pro Bowlers Tyler Biadasz and Tony Pollard. Others who signed elsewhere include Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler, Johnathan Hankins, Neville Gallimore, La’el Collins, and Noah Igbinoghene.

There hasn’t been much activity to counter the losses. So far, the only two outside players signed by the Cowboys are linebacker Eric Kendricks and running back Royce Freeman.

Remembering the contract extensions is important. Zack Martin, Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and other important players are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents by 2025. It will be Micah Parsons’ turn the following year. It’s unknown at this time who the Cowboys will ultimately choose to keep on staff. Taking into account their young and exceptional play, Lamb and Parsons will most likely receive extensions.

Furthermore, the question mark surrounding the present veterans grows even larger in light of Jones’ previously indicated remarks on the younger players. Still, Prescott is probably in the mix according to a second comment made by Jones on Tuesday.
