Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has addressed their poor return from corners in the second half of the season as the Whites aim to keep pace with Ipswich Town and Leicester City
Leeds United has had a difficult time scoring from corners in the second half of this compelling Championship campaign.
As the club pushes for automatic promotion, its failure to convert dead-ball situations into points has been a major source of discontent.
Following Saturday’s devastating home loss to Blackburn Rovers, Whites manager Daniel Farke was questioned about his team’s poor performance from attacking corners and responded, “It has to do with the players on the pitch,” Leeds Live reported. We scored a lot of goals from set pieces in the start of the season, particularly from corners.
Pascal Struijk was involved rather frequently, but he isn’t there right now. Although he isn’t currently playing, Liam Cooper was involved. In recent games, I have chosen to play more right-back with Junior Firpo, Archie Gray, or Connor Roberts, though Sam Byram was still engaged.
The ability to attack corners and wide free kicks is also related to it. Willy Gnonto, Daniel James, and Cree Summerville are just a few of the outstanding players we have on the field, but they are not natural set piece threats, so if they are in the starting lineup, we are a little short in height and quality to attack corners.
Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, and Georginio Rutter have not scored many goals in their careers, based on the record we know and the number of goals we have examined during their careers.
“We try to figure out what to do and work on various alternatives. I believe that we came within a hair’s breadth of Blackburn a couple of times, and Ilia [Gruev] had a solid opportunity, but we have to work on our corner. “Aerial threats and being proficient at set pieces are always key topics, so I take this in mind a little bit when I work in the transfer market. Although Pascal’s absence is somewhat unfortunate, we really need to add a little bit more to it (height).
