Mikey is simply being sweet, so forget what Brendan said about him.

The Celtic winger Mikey Johnston has been crowned English Championship Player of the Month yesterday because of his continued impressive play while on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

The Irish international is obviously enjoying his loan stay at the Hawthorns, where he has contributed one assist and seven goals in just 14 appearances for the Midlands club. He could help West Brom secure that much-needed promotion back to the Premier League. It may have surprised most Celtic fans to learn that while Mikey is clearly a brilliant player, he hasn’t consistently displayed it at Celtic because of a variety of issues, including injuries.

All that being said, I believe the vast majority of Celtic supporters will concur that he has no future at Celtic. As he approaches his 25th birthday, he is no longer a child. His potential is beyond question, but he lacks the physical and mental stamina to play for Celtic. Over his many years at the club, that has been demonstrated. However, that doesn’t imply he can’t succeed in another field. Observe how successful he is at West Brom in the South. Mikey at Celtic is an example of a player who is occasionally not a good fit for a particular club. Without the demands of being a Celtics player, he appears to be flourishing.

Brendan Rodgers expressed his respect for Mikey and his hope that he can leave his imprint at Celtic the following season in an interview with The Celtic Star at Lennoxtown yesterday. Brendan Rodgers said to the editor of The Celtic Star: “Now that we’re talking about Mikey, I’m really happy for him because, as a young athlete, I’ve always thought highly of him. He’s faced difficulties in the last few years due to injuries and needing to go out on loan to

“I told him during his first six months here, ‘Just show that you’re fit and have the level of fitness to sustain and train every day and be able to be available for games.'” To be fair, he accomplished it, and by the end, he was helping us. “At the age of 24, he was in desperate need of games and the opportunity to play outside. It is not surprising what he has shown and proved. He’s among the top prospects to come out of the academy, as I’ve said before. He can score goals and is direct and speedy.

It is evident how well he has performed when he goes there and receives that award in the Championship among some really talented players. It would be great if he could keep up that and return to us in the summer feeling fully rejuvenated, confident, and prepared to do some damage. Many Celtic fans were enthralled by that, but they shouldn’t be concerned. Brendan was just being adorable, in my opinion. Not that he’s stupid; he knows that Mikey’s worth has skyrocketed because of his scorching form down south. In order to ensure that the club is in control of negotiating the greatest price for Mikey, all he is doing is safeguarding his asset.

If West Brom were promoted to the Premier League, Mikey would probably want a chance to play in one of the best leagues in the world of football. Watch the press conference for Brendan below.
