John McGinn writes a Celtic love letter to his greatest Parkhead inspiration.

John McGinn declared one of his “favourite ever” Parkhead stars in an interview with Aston Villa social media, demonstrating that he is a well-known Celtic fan.

Since leaving Hibs, McGinn has taken English football by storm, becoming a celebrity for both club and country.

Despite the fact that the Hoops famously passed over signing him in 2018, McGinn’s situation has turned out very well, as he currently heads a side that is fighting to earn a spot in the Champions League under Unai Emery.

The Scotland hero is having arguably the best season of his career so far, with eight goals and six assists. Villa, who are currently only one goal behind the top four on goal differential, could have a historic season finale when they play Lille on Thursday night in the Europa Conference League quarterfinals.

Despite his busy schedule, he managed to wink at his Celtic allegiances. Earlier in the season, Villa partnered with the Japanese team Vissel Kobe, and McGinn was asked on the team’s social media accounts where in Japan he would like to travel.

And one response was guaranteed for any Celtics supporter. “I have always wanted to visit Tokyo, but I also wanted to go to Yokohama because Shunsuke Nakamura, one of my all-time favorite Celtic players, played for the Yokohama Marinos,” he stated. It seems like he retired recently, so Naka, what a player, what a guy, number 25

McGinn previously disclosed that another Celtic favorite of his served as inspiration for his decision to wear the number seven shirt for Villa and Scotland.

Earlier in the season, he said on the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “Is Henrik Larsson the reason I wear the number seven? Indeed, that is the cause.

Growing up, I’ve always adored the number seven. Larsson seven was always on the back of my shirt. Although I don’t play like him, I still enjoy wearing the number seven.
