‘Stupid’ Wolves judgment angers former Premier League referee

Following the contentious incident that resulted in a late Wolves equalizer against West Ham being disallowed, former Premier League referee Mark Halsey called the PGMOL “stupid.” Halsey maintained that this ruling is more proof that, despite their knowledge of the rules of the game, the officials are ignorant about the game itself.

He further clarified that Lukasz Fabianski would have had complete view of the ball and would not have saved Max Kilman’s header in the first place, raising the question of why VAR was even called upon to make the decision.

Halsey angrily declared, “It’s all about knowing the game of football,” during a live appearance on talkSPORT on April 8 at 8:41. In my opinion, the goal that Wolves scored on Saturday was perfect.

Being offside does not constitute a crime in and of itself. That is the case if you start playing actively, obstruct the goalie’s view, or obstruct an opponent. That didn’t happen to me.

Fabianski is obviously able to see and move when he wants to, but he would not have received the ball if the header had come in quickly. Understanding the game is key. You can argue that it’s subjective, but in that case, why did VAR intervene?

Every West Ham player was unsatisfied. There’s an ancient proverb that states referees are knowledgeable about game laws but lack football knowledge.

“There’s a serious problem if everyone in football believes that the goal should have been given and the PGMOL keeps making ridiculous claims as to why it wasn’t given.

Ex-Premier League official furiously calls the Wolves vs. West Ham game Kilman, a defender for Wolves, had a late headed goal disallowed because it was determined that an offside player was obstructing the goalkeeper. Fabianski, as Halsey explained, had little chance to stop it, thus the ending was quite dramatic.

The decision has caused rifts in opinion, with Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara debating in real time on talkSPORT. Cundy argued that the VAR made the correct decision according to the letter of the law, while O’Hara maintained that the goal should have remained.

In the meantime, Gabby Agbonlahor, who called himself “Wolves’ biggest hater,” raged at the decision and said that he felt bad for Gary O’Neil because Wolves had lost a lot of decisions this season.

The decision to divert attention from what was a remarkable away victory has naturally infuriated West Ham fans, but at this point, it is impossible to ignore a pattern of poor judgments.
