Kalvin Phillips’ camp and Leeds United are in communication regarding his summer transfer from Manchester City.

According to Sports Zone, Leeds United has already contacted Kalvin Phillips’ agency about a summer transfer from Manchester City.

The update was released on Monday, April 8, by the French publication, which is followed on X by Ben Jacobs, Graeme Bailey, and Julien Maynard, the head of communications for Paris Saint-Germain.

According to reports, Leeds and two other unidentified English teams are in contact with Phillips’ camp and monitoring the West Ham loanee’s circumstances.

What was the price paid by Manchester City for Kalvin Phillips? Even if this transfer was unlikely a few months ago, it now appears far more likely.

Due to his difficulties at Man City and now West Ham, Phillips will undoubtedly give top priority to signing with a team where he can play frequently and enjoy himself.

However, Leeds still needs to agree on a deal with the current Premier League and European champions, so that is just half of the story.

Given that City spent £42 million up front to acquire England international Phillips in July 2022 [Sky Sports], they will undoubtedly demand at least £30 million this summer.

Leeds may potentially choose to take out a loan, but doing so would be expensive and counterproductive. United would have lost a lot of money that could have been used elsewhere if Phillips fails. In the meanwhile, if Phillips makes an impression, his value will only rise by the summer after. Despite all the speculation, Phillips’ comeback will only be feasible if Leeds is in the Premier League.

And that is by no means an easy goal to accomplish in the wake of the weekend’s defeat to Coventry City.
