Following a member of the Parkhead coaching staff being struck by objects during their Premiership match against Rangers, Celtic has voiced their “serious concerns” to the Rangers organization. “Sadly, there are objects being thrown into the Celtic dugout,” Sky Sports pundit Ian Crocker stated during the 3-3 tie. The assistant coach John Kennedy may have been struck by “the objects being thrown were coins, with five or six striking the former defender,” according to reports from SunSport.
There are also rumors that Police Scotland spoke with Kennedy following the game. They were seen in the dugout during the Old Firm, and according to Celtic, Police Scotland is currently investigating what happened.
Groundstaff had to rush on to sweep up the broken glass that had coated Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart’s penalty area during a previous derby back in April 2022, putting the players in danger. It was the same game where a missile struck a Celtic physiotherapist, necessitating stitches. Celtic is requesting an explanation for the most recent occurrence.
“It is totally unacceptable that our staff have been targeted in this way again,” a Celtic official stated. We are aware that Police Scotland is presently looking into the incident, and we will be bringing up our grave concerns with Rangers.” The goals from Matt O’Riley and Daizen Maeda gave the Hoops a commanding two-goal lead at Ibrox. Rabbi Matondo’s effort shared the points, but James Tavernier and Abdallah Sima answered for the Rangers, and Adam Idah appeared to have won it for Celtic. Although Celtic leads their opponents by a point, they still have a game left to play.
