Dolphins have signed Teair Tart, a defensive tackle, for a single year, according to an AP source.

Florida’s Miami Gardens — According to a source with knowledge of the discussions who spoke with The Associated Press on Friday, the Miami Dolphins are adding defensive tackle Teair Tart to a one-year contract in an effort to strengthen their defense. Since the team has not made the trade public, the person talked to the AP under the condition of anonymity.

Tart was waived in December after starting nine games for the Titans in 2023 and recording 21 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and a sack. Tart recorded three tackles in two games with the Texans after Houston claimed him off waivers. Tart, a 2020 Florida International undrafted free agent, has 14 quarterback hits, 2 1/2 sacks, and 79 tackles. His career began in Tennessee, where he played for four seasons. The Dolphins have added a number of defensive players this summer, including Tart.

Miami signed safety Jordan Poyer, linebackers Shaquil Barrett and Anthony Walker Jr., cornerback Kendall Fuller, and defensive tackles Benito Jones, Neville Gallimore, and Jonathan Harris last month.
