Napoli is reportedly among the five teams, including Leeds United, that are keeping an eye on Sunderland full-back Trai Hume ahead of the summer transfer season.
With seven games left, the Whites may still finish in the automatic promotion spots and make a trip back to the Premier League. That being said, Leeds might not be able to create firm transfer plans in advance if they don’t achieve promotion.
According to a report in the Belfast Telegraph, Sunderland full-back Trai Hume is being watched closely by a number of teams, including Leeds.
Connor Roberts is the only natural right-back for Leeds and is now on loan. Sam Byram (2024) and Junior Firpo (2025) are both on contracts that are expiring, thus the club does not appear to be in good long-term form on either side of their back four. In addition to Leeds, Championship teams Leicester City and Napoli are also competitive, as are Premier League teams Bournemouth and Aston Villa
.The article also states that the 22-year-old would demand a price to leave the Stadium of Light in the summer, maybe around £8 million. Because of a sell-on clause in the deal, his old Northern Ireland club, Linfield, would receive 15% of the total.
Given his versatility and ability to play on either side of the back four, Hume would be a wise defensive addition for Leeds. You could be concerned about how he would do in the Premier League, though, since we would already be put to the test quite a bit. Given that those three teams have recruited effectively in recent seasons, Hume’s ability is well complemented by the interest shown by Bournemouth, Villa, and Napoli.
