Ben Davies had nothing but admiration for the contentious Spurs boss.

Despite Mourinho’s falling out with several of his players toward the conclusion of his tenure at the club, Ben Davies has stated that he enjoyed working with the Portuguese coach. Mauricio Pochettino, a highly regarded figure among the players and supporters alike, has led Tottenham to a very close run at both the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy, making him a formidable opponent for Mourinho.

In his first year in command of the Lilywhites, the former Chelsea manager fared fairly well; the team produced results, although occasionally seeing challenging play.

As soon as the results were in, it was widely believed that the 61-year-old had lost a lot of the dressing room in the latter stages of his tenure at Tottenham (The Athletic).

Davies acknowledged that the recently fired Roma manager was a personal favorite of his. Regarding Mourinho, the defender said on The Gabs and Jules Show, “I have nothing but praise for that man.” I can’t speak for everyone, as we all know he’s had disagreements with some individuals over the years, but personally, I adored him.

The Welshman also shared a humorous anecdote, stating that when Mourinho initially started at the club, the players were trying to make themselves appear bigger since they knew he preferred players with better physical attributes. “We obviously knew he played more physically, so we had guys who were really nervous about their size, like let me put on a rain jacket so he thinks I’m bigger,” said the 30-year-old.

People seem to either adore or dislike Mourinho as a character. Given his charisma and enthusiasm, it makes sense why he commands the utmost loyalty from some of his players and supporters.
