Celtic has issued a statement following the suspension of their manager for the duration of the game for his remarks in the post-match interview on John Beaton’s competency.
Beaton oversaw some amazing VAR interventions for Celtic at Tynecastle. Particularly questionable was the hand ball ruling that gave Hearts a penalty.
When Brendan Rodgers called it out, the SFA accused him of disparaging authorities.
Since then, Celtic has insisted that they would oppose the accusation and fully support Brendan Rodgers. They failed to do so and were given a one-match ban; crucially, this means that the manager of Celtic will be able to watch the Glasgow derby from the dugout.
The club, however, is still not satisfied and feels that their man ought to have left without any problems.
Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, will miss two games after appearing before the SFA disciplinary tribunal today, Thursday. There are two matches this Sunday’s Premiership encounter against Livingston that are immediate, and one match that is suspended until the end of the 2023–2024 season.
In a statement, Celtic Football Club stated: “We will accept the panel’s decision, but we are obviously disappointed with the outcome of today’s hearing.”
“The Manager attended the hearing today, and he put up a strong and comprehensive defense.”We will keep pushing for the highest standards in relation to the VAR process in Scottish football, like many other clubs do.”
Celtic’s technical manager is presently absent from the Livingston match. John Kennedy will be held accountable in this case. Rodgers’ presence in the dugout for Ibrox is fantastic, but it won’t matter if Celtic lose at Livi.
