SATURDAY, March 26, 1910 It appears that Celtic is headed for their sixth consecutive Scottish League Championship. A somewhat underwhelming 8,000 spectators watched Celtic defeat Partick Thistle 3-0 today at Parkhead, with all of the goals coming (almost inevitably) from the legendary Jimmy Quinn.
SATURDAY, March 26, 1921 This year, Celtic’s hopes of qualifying for the League are dealt a potentially fatal blow when they lose 2-3 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. SATURDAY, March 26, 1955 Strangely, the Scottish Cup semifinal matches between Clyde and Aberdeen at Easter Road and Celtic and Airdrie at Hampden conclude in 2-2 ties! In their situation, Celtic had to respond after trailing 1-0 in just 15 seconds and before a single player from the team had touched the ball! However, Willie Fernie and Jimmy Walsh give Celtic the lead and force a replay. Many newspapers felt that Celtic actually should have won.
SATURDAY, March 26, 1966 Even though they didn’t do anything particularly spectacular, Celtic was skilled and professional enough to overcome Dunfermline 2-0 at Ibrox and advance to the Scottish Cup final. In front of 53,900 spectators, Bertie Auld and Steve Chalmers score one goal in each half. Rangers and Aberdeen’s other semi-final results in a tie.
